Given that the Voting Rights Act now lies in tatters even as Republicans embrace Voter I.D. schemes to suppress the black vote, given that GOP star Rand Paul has questioned the constitutionality of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, one has to wonder if the results of the Civil Rights Movement do not face a similar fate.
			Or, as Georgia Rep. John Lewis put it when I spoke with him Monday, "Can history repeat itself?"
			Lewis was the great hero of the battle for voting rights, a then-25-year-old activist who had his skull broken by Alabama state troopers on Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, while leading a march against the use of poll taxes, literacy tests, morals tests, economic intimidation,[http://cgi.members.interq.or.jp/rap/takepee/i/epad/epad.cgi?res=5954 The Most Important Factor of SEO Services], clubs, guns and bombs to deny black people the ballot. The law he helped enact required states and counties with histories of voting discrimination to seek federal approval before changing their voting procedures. But let us -- African-Americans and all believers in freedom -- also serve notice that, whatever lawmakers do, we will not stand placidly by as history repeats and citizenship is repealed, but that we will energetically resist by every moral means.

Even with the recent bear market, Japan funds declined 1.86 percent in the last month, that's less than any other international stock sector fund, according to Morningstar. Investors have lost money in Japan over the last decade, so you'll want to limit your stake and keep tabs of the developments, as Abenomics is an unfolding story.
			Although many say this is indeed a buying opportunity, there are some caveats. 			Eichler is a dentist from North Pole who has had some pretty nasty things to say about First Alaskans. By "nasty" I mean racist. And by "North Pole" I mean the town near Fairbanks, not the northernmost point on Earth.
			Eichler wrote in an online forum for dentists in the American Dental Association. In a discussion of dental care in rural Alaska, and reported by Rich Mauer in the Daily News, Eichler claimed that public health care "has left Natives free of personal responsibility" and chronically dependent.

			But I would ask Republican leaders in our state to stop pandering to the worst elements of their party, or go ahead and self-identify as racists. You can't show up wearing a kuspuk to an event, smiling and waving, and then give Eichler a position from which to influence public policy.
			What does Congressman Don Young have to say, for example? His beloved late wife and his children are Alaska Natives.
			Sadly, we already know where the governor stands.
			What does Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who wouldn't be a senator if it hadn't been for the support of Alaska Natives, think? She's a Republican senator, for crying out loud, and this guy is running her party?
