Hopefully we get some closure from a legal standpoint there, Sarkisian said, adding that ASJ has been working out with teammates this summer. That includes OL Colin Tanigawa, RB Jesse Callier, DE Hau oli Jamora and RB Deontae Cooper all of whom are coming back from major knee injuries and LB Travis Feeney, who had shoulder surgery. All of the incoming freshmen have been academically cleared and are scheduled to check in on campus Saturday. It’s summertime on the beach for seal pups, too
<html>As the summer beach and boating season revs up,? Robin Lindsey of the Seal Sitters? reminds beach walkers and boaters to turn around and head the other way if they encounter a seal pup on the beach. The pup needs to rest, and its mother is probably nearby fishing. The last thing either of them need is people encroaching on the vulnerable pup, or scaring off the mother. Dogs should be leashed and led away pronto. Lindsey has too often seen partying boaters endangering young pups. has some disturbing humanoid behavior to report. Mike Zunino appears to be safeguarding the basepaths for Mar
<html>The Mariners will try to win their series against the Angels tonight, sending Felix Hernandez to the mound to face a team he blew an 8-1 lead against last month in Anaheim. Mariners catcher Mike Zunino has hit just .235 since arriving in the big leagues. But considering he s playing about six days out of every seven, the Mariners will gladly take that total. Zunino has shown an ability to play every day without his skills diminishing. We didn t always see that last year with Jesus Montero or John Jaso.
I like what I see,Confirmed- Xbox President Mattrick to head Zynga, Mariners manager Eric Wedge said. He s handled all the pitchers fine, he s thrown the ball well, blocks the ball very well, works hard. He s getting a better feel for our pitchers in regard to calling a game. And he s getting experience to the league. Those are all positives.
As for the difference between Zunino and Montero and Jaso before him,Iwakuma thrilled to join Felix in New York for All 0, Wedge said: I don t think they were conditioned like Mike is. That s the thing. Being conditioned to play every day. He is. So far, Zunino has thrown out two of nine would-be base-stealers including Mike Trout last night for a 22 percent success rate that is just below the league average of 25 percent. But there are more to the numbers than just those, something that hints at a possible deterrent effect. Opponents are attempting only 0.44 steals per game since Zunino s June 12 arrival. Prior to it, they had attempted 0.803 steals per contest. So,Nike Steelers 83 Miller Grey Shadow Elite Jerseys, they are trying to steal roughly half as much as before. Now,NBA Caps-080,Supressed report criticizes Hawaii, part of that could be explained by the team s they are playing and the so-called sample size. Perhaps the pitching staff knowing there s a rookie catcher back there is also making a more concerted effort to watch the runners. But maybe there is a deterrent happening here, sort of like the good cornerbacks in football who don t get the big interception totals because no one wants to throw their way. Whatever the reason, opponents are stealing only 0.33 bases per game since Zunino s arrival, while grabing an average of 0.67 per game beforehand. In other news, Stephen Pryor threw a second simulated game today and could be ready to head out on an injury rehabilitation assignment with Class A Everett during the All-Star Break. Dustin Ackley and Franklin Gutierrez hit against him today. The Mariners are going to see how Gutierrez feels tomorrow and then discuss whether to send him out on a rehabilitation assignment as well. Michael Morse is still feeling sore in his quad muscle and not yet ready to go out to the minors just yet.</html>
Mariners keep on pounding the ball in 6
<html>Justin Smoak receives a congratulatory hug in the dugout from pitcher Felix Hernandez after a three-run homer in the sixth inning. Hernandez tossed eight scoreless frames in the 6-0 win. Photo Credit: AP The Los Angeles Angels have yet to score a run off a Mariners starting pitcher this series and were blanked 6-0 tonight as Felix Hernandez went eight strong innings while Yoervis Medina finished off the ninth. Along the way, the Mariners scored six more runs, with Justin Smoak driving in the first four. Smoak showed a quick learning curve from a 10-pitch fourth inning at-bat in which he lined an RBI single on to a sixth-inning encounter in which he sent the first-pitch from Jered Weaver over the center field wall for a three-run homer. “The first two at-bats, he threw me a bunch of off-speed,’’ Smoak said. “So, I was thinking he was going to try to sneak a fastball in there first pitch. And I was able to put a good swing on it.’’ That s what you call going up there with a plan and executing it. There s a reason Smoak is now hitting .266 with a .790 OPS for the season. He s not done. He s just getting started, it would appear. As for the Mariners, they re keeping this offense going at its six runs per night clip. They have scored 44 in the first six games of the homestand and have a shot at their first sweep of the year tomorrow. “When guys are having good at-bats and making pitchers throw a lot of pitches,Mike Scinto Conservative American, 1-through-9,Broncos 84 Walker Blue Jerseys,Multiple sources can verify Native Hawaiian ancestry_0, you’re going to get pitches out over the plate to hit,’’ Smoak said. “He’s going to make mistakes. He’s going to get tired out there. And I think that’s what you’re seeing from everybody. Everybody is having good at-bats, seeing a lot of pitches and we’re getting the starter out of there early in the game.’’ Hernande?reached the 10-win mark by the All-Star Break f0r the first time in his career. As we mentioned off the top of the game blog, Hernandez got bashed around with an 8-1 lead last month against these same Angels in Anaheim, saw that whittled down to just 8-7 by the time he left, then saw Seattle lose the game. “It was always on my mind,’’ Hernandez said. “I’ll never forget that.’’ I asked him what lessons he learned from it. “You can’t fall behind against these guys,’’ Hernandez said. “It’s a pretty good lineup so, I tried to have a good fastball today and throw it for a strike and jusy mix in my breaking balls.’’ That he did. Tonight, Hernandez was at the top of his game. He wasn t going to let the Angels beat him and they had their chances to score in a couple of innings. But he held on and preserved a 1-0 lead long enough for Smoak to break the game open. Raul Ibanez had two more hits as did the surging Michael Saunders seemingly back from the dead these past two weeks. It s a good way to close what had otherwise been a disappointing first half. Tomorrow s game is a big one because going in nine games under .500 will make reaching the break-even point seem a lot less tougher than being 11 under. Mariners manager Eric Wedge liked what he saw from the offense tonight, even when the two hitters atop the order were kept hitless. “It’s not just Smoak, there are other guys that are doing it too,Saini to serve 15 years to life 1,’’ Wedge said. “Guys that are right in the middle of figuring things out. So, when you string that together up and down the lineup,Pittsburgh Steelers Caps-001, it’s a difference-maker for you.’’ Wedge was asked whether the All-Star Break was coming at a bad time for his club, which extended its team record to 21 consecutive games with at least one home run. The idea being that a break now will slow the team s offensive momentum.
If it s real, it shouldn t matter, Wedge said. That s kind of the way I look at it.
We ll find out how real it is after the break.</html>
BUILD- Microsoft platformizes Bing 0
<html>SAN FRANCISCO _ Among the goodies that Microsoft s giving to developers at its Build conference is a $10 billion search engine. The company announced that it s now offering Bing as a platform for software developers.
The unbounded knowledge of the Web is now available to your applications, Vice President Gurdeep Singh Pall said.
This came after Chief Executive Steve Ballmer and Windows executives showed off the new version of Windows 8 that was updated largely in response to feedback from heavy-duty PC users. They also showed off new touchscreen PCs and improvements to the Visual Studio development kit. Ballmer?said developers should benefit from Bing being built into Windows PCs,Donaven Dorsey commits to Washington 0, phones and Xbox. But perhaps?Ballmer was also speaking to financial analysts in the room. Some have called on Microsoft to stop pouring billions into Bing and spinoff its search business after years of struggling to take market share from Google. Offering Bing as a platform for developers is a different tack, and Bing s deep integration into core products makes it clear Ballmer has no intention of jettisoning the business. Pall showed how applications can be written with voice search he asked questions about Spain and a tablet returned vacation suggestions,Multiple sources can verify Native Hawaiian ancestry 2,Minnesota Vikings 28 Adrian Peterson White 50TH Patch Jersey, then more detailed information about a particular destination. Mariners pitching prospect Danny Hultzen shut down for 10 da
<html>Mariners Class AAA pitching prospect Danny Hultzen has been shut down for 10 more days and the team will look to rework his throwing regimen and mechanics in order to get to bottom of what s caused his shoulder woes this season. Photo Credit: AP Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik said moments ago that a decision was made yesterday to shut down Mariners pitching prospect Danny Hultzen for 10 days and then take a serious look at his throwing regimen and whether it may be causing his shoulder woes. Hultzen hasn t pitched since June 27 when he took the mound for the Class AAA Tacoma Rainiers.
We re going to do some adjustments to his routines,Penguins 87 Crosby black women Jerseys,Mike Scinto Conservative American 0, Zduriencik said. We re going to look at a little bit of his mechanics. You never want to overhaul anybody. I think that s dangerous with pitchers. But I do think you might look at some of the programs he s doing and try to do some alterations with it. We re prepared to do whatever it takes and I think some of this is a process where, you do one thing and see where it leads you. And then it takes you to Step 2 and Step 3. Hopefully, when he starts throwing,Parker a future track star at Bellbrook,NCAA Caps-038, we re going to see positive results.
The team will also look at strengthening the muscles around Hultzen s shoulder.
We re trying to figure out exactly what causes this issue that he has, Zdurienicik said.? It s the funny thing about pitching. Pitchers have the tendancy to get hurt at times. Hopefully,Osvaldo Alonso- ‘I’m ready to go Saturday.’, from what we ve been told, this isn t something to be overly alarmed about but it s something that we have to address. And we re looking at a lot of different issues with him.
As far as the team s other top pitching prospect, Taijuan Walker, Zduriencik confirmed that he will be on an innings-limit this season and will be shut down once he reaches that target number.</html>
Is car culture coming to an end in Seattle- 0
<html>From the heyday of car culture: The Ford Seattle-ite XXI concept car, displayed at the 1962 World s Fair (Photo: UW Libraries Special Collections) America s love affair with the automobile may have finally hit a dead end, according to a recent article in .? It s a bold claim,Huskies fined for playing in Alumni Game, but the data back it up. The number of miles driven in the United States peaked in 2005 and has been steadily declining since. In particular, younger people have turned their backs on the car.? Today,Angles blank white women Jerseys, 80 percent of adults under 35 in the Seattle metro say that driving is a primary mode of transportation for them.? Mariner fan’s plea- The kids are alright, so don’
<html>By Tommy Farris Tommy Farris, 23, is a recent University of Washington graduate who lives in Port Angeles. The first half of the 2013 season struck a familiar chord for the Mariners. The club threw around some dollars in the offseason, Brendan Ryan’s batting average hovering around .200, the team is mired in fourth place? in the American League West standings (thank goodness for the Astros), and the Mariners are seemingly out of contention by the All-Star break yet again. However, this isn’t another pessimistic fan submission whining about another bleak Mariners season. I’m writing with excitement and encouragement. Call me naive, but I m convinced that if the M’s front office can handle emerging success differently, we have hope for the future. I’ll make it brief and simple: Brad Miller,Protesters rally against Zimmerman verdict, Nick Franklin, and Kyle Seager. These guys play the game right. Hard-nosed baseball, aggressive at the plate, and a competitive swagger I haven’t seen since 2001 and earlier. It’s no surprise to me that those three were listed 1-2-3 in the lineup in Sunday’s 3-1 win against the Reds. Seager is proving to be a trustworthy 20-home run, 90-plus RBI guy. Franklin is looking like a future All-Star who can bat .300, with 25 homers and 20 steals. It may early for Miller, but seeing two triples from our new lead-off guy and Ryan out of the lineup makes the M’s lineup instantly more potent. For some reason, seeing those guys hit 1-2-3 in the order and watching how they play the game gives me hope that this can be the core of a 1995-type Mariners playoff team. I’ve spent too many years watching our top prospects like Jeremy Reed, Wladimir Balentien, Dustin Ackley, and Jesus Montero crumble under the spotlight and lack that competitive edge. We shouldn’t have to baby our top prospects back and forth on I-5 from Tacoma to get their confidence going. Justin Smoak, Michael Saunders, and injury plagued Franklin Gutierrez have simply underachieved. I’m sick of fans justifying our young players’ struggles as being due to their age. Ken Griffey Jr. and Alex Rodriguez were staples in the M’s lineup by age 21. My point: young players can produce,Fireworks are fun, risky, legally iffy, so there should be no more slack for these guys. Even more painful is seeing top young talent like Adam Jones, Asdrubal Cabrera, and Shin-Soo Choo dealt away when the M’s front office prematurely labeled our club contenders in 2007 and 2009. Because the Mariners lacked forward thinking and robbed the team of future All-Stars,Rise in illegal crossing roils immigration debate, the 2007 and 2009 teams turned out to be one-hit wonders, as aging veteran acquisitions left the team with no youth to fill in the gaps. Here’s my Safeco Field Beer Garden plea: Jack Zduriencik, please build around competitive, hard-nosed ballplayers like Miller, Franklin and Seager, and don’t touch a single one of our up-and-coming prospects like Danny Hultzen,NBA Caps-172, Taijuan Walker or James Paxton until we’re a first place team or perennial contender, and the trade would make us the AL favorite, rather than just trying to climb into the wild-card race. Let the kids play and, heck, bring up a few more. Stop protecting these guys until they’re 22, 23, or older. As we’ve seen with Franklin, Miller,Alabama Crimson Tide 7 Elway red Jerseys, and Mike Zunino, some of these kids could be helping the Mariners win right now.
