The San Jose, Calif., man known as Jaws ate one more wiener than his previous record to capture the mustard-yellow champion s belt. He said afterward that he was motivated by the prestige, not the $10,000 prize money.

It has reached the point where large corporations spend more on tax attorneys than on the scientists and engineers vital to a future with a vibrant American economy.For too many of our citizen, hope, our most powerful emotion, has been ground out by our tax system. For many living in other countries, America is now just another bureaucracy where politics is more important than hard work, and political connections mean more than ingenuity and creativity.But the FairTax could change this. Under the FairTax, we could use our 70,000 pages of income tax code for firewood. One rate, fairly applied, for everyone on all purchases of new goods and services. Under the FairTax, the IRS, an agency revealed as a cesspool of political cronyism and a tool of corrupt politicians, would be eliminated. I have seen teams roped to trees on the side of a mountain work non-stop through torrential downpours in Papua New Guinea, move and screen tons of dirt looking for remains or evidence in 100 degree heat in Vietnam and Cambodia, and dive continuously in a river in Korea where you couldn't see your hand in front of your face looking for a missing pilot. Yes, the missions to Europe were considered more civilized , but anyone who has visited there lately knows that most of the land there is either owned privately or by the government, and you're not able to just throw down a base camp and start digging. So the teams stayed in small hotels or guest houses,SirCritic's Movie Review_0, and drove to the work sites each day. But they still worked just as hard as anywhere else, and most of the time found remains or physical evidence that helped to resolve a case in the missions that I remember. I would love to see a follow up done on this story, where someone clearly explains the allegations and lays out the facts and corroborrating evidence. If JPAC has truly slipped that far in the three years since I left, then let them be held accountable. But printing such a sensationalist piece of crap without laying out the evidence is not fair to the dedicated professionals that I know have worked so hard to bring these men home,Reds 14 Rose Grey Jerseys, and only causes more anguish to the families who have waited so long for closure. Reapportionment is inherently a political process. Hawaii's reapportionment process is better than in many states in that the plan is devised by a bi-partisan plan. So the interests of both the Democrats and the Republicans were taken care of. Well,Michigan's snappy innovation, of the Democrats, those aligned with Speaker Say were taken care of. The group which was NOT protected by the bi-partisan nature of the commission were the House Dissidents and some of them faced stiff challenges as a result. But the Dissidents survived and now control the House. So the effort failed.

The Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice intervened, but now that the Republican majority on the US Supreme Court has kicked the teeth out of the Voting Rights Act, the Texas Republicans are once again pushing through changes to suppress black and Latino voting.
So kvetch if you want about Hawaii's reapportionment process. But compared to most states, our system is much more fair and transparent.
